Hinge is looking to hire for the following positions:

Senior Landscape Designer / Landscape Architect

Philadelphia, PA | Full-Time | Hybrid (4 days in office, Fridays remote)

$75,000–$90,000, commensurate with experience

Licensure welcome but not required

Design parks with the neighbors who'll use them

At Hinge Collective, we advocate for communities over clients. We're looking for a senior landscape designer or landscape architect who wants their drawings to become real places on real blocks, and who believes the best design ideas come from porches, block meetings, and garden plots, where people already know what their neighborhood needs.

You'll lead design on public green spaces in West and Southwest Philadelphia, from first sketch to construction documents, alongside the residents, urban farmers, and community leaders who will live with the results.

What you'll work on

• New mini-parks in West and Southwest Philadelphia, which you'll lead from concept through construction.

• Neighborhood Green Nodes, which we're building with Deeply Rooted and the UPenn Urban Health Lab.

• Climate Resilience Planning throughout Philadelphia

Who you'll work with

Urban farmers, community leaders, neighborhood nonprofits, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and other city agencies, contractors, and a small, collaborative design team that genuinely likes each other.

What you'll do

• Lead design of multiple mini-park and green space projects, from site plans through construction documents.

• Help shape and run community engagement sessions, including evenings and weekends, when neighbors can actually show up.

• Turn community ideas into graphics, renderings, and presentation materials that residents, funders, and city partners can all get excited about.

• Build 3D models and renderings in Rhino 3D, Enscape, and Photoshop, plus hand sketches when they help tell the story.

• Lay out presentation booklets, reports, and guides in InDesign.

• Run site and context analysis in QGIS.

• Prepare construction documents: planting plans, hardscape details, irrigation layouts, and specifications.

• Support project management, including schedules, cost estimates, and contractor coordination during construction.

What you bring

• 5+ years of professional landscape architecture or landscape design experience. A license is a plus but not required.

• A real interest in community-led, collaborative design.

• Strong graphic and layout skills in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign for reports, booklets, and guides (a must).

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Rhino 3D.

• GIS experience for spatial analysis and survey data. We use QGIS, but other platforms are welcome.

• Horticultural knowledge for choosing the right plants for tough urban sites.

• Hands-on experience with construction documents, cost estimating, and contractor coordination.

• Familiarity with sustainable practices, especially green stormwater infrastructure.

• Working knowledge of grading and drainage.

• Clear communication skills, and the ability to take feedback from a room full of neighbors and turn it into a better design.

• Bonus: hand-drawing and illustration skills.

Schedule and pay, honestly

We're in our Philadelphia office four days a week, with Fridays remote. Community work happens when communities are free, so expect regular evening and weekend events. We offer flex time in return.

We're a small, nonprofit-adjacent firm. We can't always match big corporate salaries. What we can offer is a $75,000–$90,000 salary and work you can walk past, sit in, and point to, built with the people it serves.
